The Society for Neuroscience is the world’s largest organization of scientists and physicians devoted to understanding the brain and the nervous system.

The School of Medical Sciences of Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM), which was founded in 1979, was the third medical school in Malaysia following the establishment of schools by Universiti Malaya and Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia. The Department of Neurosciences at USM was initially established under the Department of Surgery on 17 August 2000. The unit was growing and so was separated from the Department of Surgery in order to fulfill its clinical and academic goals.

This umbrella body for the Neurosciences in Malaysia aims to gather together all professionals and allied health professionals in related fields to encourage activities promoting greater interest in the ever-widening field of Neurosciences.

The Neuroscimag is a science-based website that focuses on sharing knowledge and information to a wider audience in the most interesting and non-threatening way! Of course with much fewer jargons and bombastic words!  It is initiated by a team of postgraduate students from Department of Neurosciences, Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM) who try to contribute and 'giving back' to the society in their own way.
