Advancing the understanding of the Brain and Nervous System
Introduction to MEG-EEG Analysis Workshop
23~24 January 2017
The rapid development in neuroimaging technology, methodology and interpretations have transformed and revolutionized neuroscience research progress in clinical application. The neuroimaging modalities such as electroencephalography (EEG) and magnetoencephalography (MEG) have been used by researchers to do the measurement in cognitive neuroscience and mapping the brain activities. Therefore, the use of EEG and MEG as brain mapping techniques continues to expand and becomes well-known among experts - neurosurgeon. It is because of these modalities are non-invasive and capable of measuring brain activity with high temporal resolution at every millisecond (ms). 'Introduction to MEG and EEG analysis' workshop is designed for MEG and EEG researcher of various levels. This workshop offers participants with a basic understanding of electromagnetic theory and brain signals recorded using MEG and EEG will provide an initial exposure to participants to a few software that can be used to analyze and interpret EEG and MEG data. In this workshop, participants will be introduced to three types of software and technical analysis of MEG and EEG using Brainstorm MEG-EEG, Statistical Parametric Mapping (SPM) and Fieldtrip.
Objectives
1) Understand the theory and brain signals recorded by MEG and EEG
2) Understand and be able to use software for analyzing MEG and EEG data
3) Be able to interpret MEG and EEG data analysis
