The Fast & Gentle Multiplex Imaging Workshop provided by Carl Zeiss Sdn Bhd was held on the 29th and 30th of October, 2019. This educational, meaningful "ZEISS On Your Campus (ZOYC)" was a joint effort made happened by the Department of Neurosciences from the School of Medical Sciences of Universiti Sains Malaysia, in collaboration with the Society for Neuroscience (Kelantan Chapter). Carl Zeiss is a renowned Germany manufacturer of optical systems and opto-electronics, whereby most of their applications involve microscopy and innovation.  

 

This 2-day workshop was well-received by 61 participants who came from diverse backgrounds and carried different identities, such as laboratory technicians, researchers, lecturers, as well as postgraduate students. Apart from the invited speaker and representative from ZEISS Malaysia, Dr. Lim Siang Hui and Mr. Chua Eng Siong, two guest speakers from USM had graced the event. Dr. Azim Patar from the Department of Neurosciences started his session by sharing his previous experience using confocal microscope on spinal cord tissues; whereas Dr. Khadijah Razak from the Department of Radiotherapy gave a talk on imaging of polymer thin coated film. Dr. Lim, on the other hand, conducted two sessions on the current microscopy technologies and optical sectioning methods. The workshop concluded with a hands-on session on operating a confocal microscope led by Dr. Lim.
